As founder and visionary of MAMA, Arthur H. Goldman, Jr. brings a vast array of successful entrepreneurial experience to Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy. He developed businesses in apparel, merchandising, and government contracting. His commitment to create the premier maritime training facility has been unwavering and resulted in attracting an outstanding staff and board of directors for MAMA.
Ed Nanartowich came to MAMA with a distinguished and decorated global career of over 34 years with the Navy’s Military Sealift Command. He sailed as a Master from 1981 to 2008 with 24 commands within the diversified MSC fleet (tankers, cargo ships, cable-layers, scientific support ships, hospital ships, ocean-going tugs and others). He also served for 30 years as a Naval Reserve Captain. As a reservist he taught at Little Creek Shiphandling School and in Navy Simulators in Norfolk. Captain Ed joined MAMA as an advanced course instructor in 2009 following his retirement as a Senior Master with the Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC). In addition, he has published numerous noted articles in professional maritime journals. Unlimited Master Ed Nanartowich has an MBA from LaSalle University and Bachelors from SUNY Maritime College.
Capt. Sitka has over 30 years of sea service with the USN, offshore industry, inland tugs, and container ships, as well government vessels. Mr. John Sitka is highly skilled in the aspects of the professional mariner. He holds an Unlimited Master upon Oceans license, Master of Towing Oceans and Western Rivers. He has continued to hold a strong vision for the development of Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy. As Vice President of Academics he is responsible for the development of new courses and their regulatory conformation to United States Coast Guard standards. He is a graduate with a BS from the University of the State of New York, Albany, and a MA from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va.
Captain Robert G. Allee joined Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy as an advanced class instructor after retiring from his post as Commandant of Midshipmen at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York. Currently serving as the Director of Bridge Simulations, Capt. Allee is involved with tailored course development and simulator enhancement. Previous to his position as Commandant, Captain Allee had a distinguished career of 31 years in the United States Navy and Merchant Marine. While serving as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer he commanded two combatant ships and a squadron of logistics ships. He retired as a senior ranking Captain. While in the Merchant Marine, Captain Allee served with the Military Sealift Command, then at the United States Merchant Marine Academy as a Professor of Marine Transportation and as Master of the Academy's Training Ship. He is a graduate of the USMMA Kings Point NY and the Navy Postgraduate School at Monterey Ca. with a major in computer systems management.
Chief Bill Muth has 44 years of hands-on, in-depth experience and responsibility in managing engineering organizations involved in overhaul, maintenance and operation of shipboard and shore-based facilities. His previous careers include; an assignment as Combined Fleet Forces Command (CFFC) Port Engineer for two naval ships; USS Carr (FFG52) and USS Kauffman (FFG59). He served as Regional Maintenance Commander and ship Commanding Officer's primary representative for all of ship maintenance and modernization. He was a key member of the RMC Core Maintenance Team, consisting of the Commanding Officer, the Port Engineer, the ship's Ship Material & Maintenance Officer, the depot Naval Supervisory Activity project manager, the intermediate maintenance facility Ship Superintendent and for private sector depot work under the multi-ship / multi-option contracts, a representative from the prime contractor. As a licensed and experienced marine engineer, Chief Muth acted as subject matter expert and technical specialist in ships and ship systems/equipment and it familiar with both operations and maintenance requirements for assigned ships. He is a graduate with a BS from the University of the State of New York, Albany, and Troy State University and received a masters degree in management.
